February 23, 2011 - Carrie Underwood presented Mark Shriver, Senior Vice President of U.S. Programs for Save the Children, a check from proceeds collected through ticket sales from the 2010 fall leg of her "Play On Tour." 36 cents from every ticket sold during the September to December 2010 run of shows has been donated to Save the Children's U.S. Programs, a donation totaling $140,125.68.
This charitable initiative was inspired by the "36 cents" written in the lyrics of Underwood's album track "Change" on her most recent album Play On, which addresses how even the smallest bit of spare change that one might have can add up to make a difference and help "change" the world. DANCING WITH THE STARS - 'Episode 1610' - In the final two-hour performance show, the remaining couples competed in three rounds of dance. In the first round, each couple took on a new routine in a dance style that the judges wanted to see again. In round two, the couples were challenged to a Cha Cha relay, where each pair danced to a different section of the same song. August 16, 2009 - Carrie Underwood performed for 75,000 fans, Soldiers and military families at Fort Campbell Army Base on Friday, August 14 as part of the Salute to the Troops Concert. The show began the "Week of the Eagles, a Biannual Tribute to the Screaming Eagles," a time dedicated to celebrate the Soldiers and families of Fort Campbell, KY, whose 101st Airborne Division is returning from their service in the Middle East. The Grand Ole Opry honored Randy Travis as he celebrated 25 years in country music and as an Opry member on October 4. December 12, 2009 - Carrie Underwood received the 2009 Harmony Award at the Symphony Ball held at Nashville's Schermerhorn Symphony Center. The Nashville Symphony Ball is Nashville's premiere winter social event, a white-tie, invitation-only evening benefiting the Nashville Symphony and its music outreach programs. This year marked the event's 25th anniversary. "The honor is a wonderful compliment and it's an amazing feeling being part of the Nashville community," said Underwood. "It was a beautiful evening filled with wonderful music, gorgeous ball gowns and décor, and was definitely an evening to remember." The Harmony Award is presented annually at Nashville's Symphony Ball to individuals who have demonstrated continued interest and support of music in Nashville. The recipients exemplify the unique harmony between the many worlds of music that exist in our city and have contributed significantly to the development and appreciation of Nashville's musical culture. On February 25, 2010, the PEDIGREE Brand made a $50,000 donation to Carrie Underwood's C.A.T.S Foundation (Checotah, Animal, Town and School Foundation to aid in the building of a local animal shelter in her hometown. ASCAP celebrated the No. 1 success of Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood’s duet “Remind Me” with a party on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry on Tuesday, October 18. Written by Brad, Chris DuBois and Kelley Lovelace, the song is Brad’s 20th No. 1 and Carrie’s 14th. Brad and Carrie will again team up to host the 45th Annual CMA Awards on November 9 in Nashville.
