Eli Young Band joined Alabama in the studio May 15 to record “The Closer You Get” for the band’s tribute compilation, <em>Alabama & Friends</em>, which is set for release later this year. The album will also include Toby Keith, Luke Bryan, Jason Aldean, Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw and Rascal Flatts.

Jason Aldean and Lee Greenwood surprised Charlie Daniels while he was hosting a special free concert in Nashville Tuesday night to support Lipscomb University’s Yellow Ribbon Enhancement Program as part of the Charlie Daniels’ Scholarship for Heroes event. The pair walked on stage unannounced to offer Charlie their support.
The concert also featured performances by Chris Young and The Grascals, as well as Keni Thomas, Bleach and Lynyrd Skynyrd guitarist Sparky Matejka. Additionally, the night included a presentation with Mary Byers, President of Gold Star Mothers, Inc., an organization of mothers who have lost sons or daughters while in service of their country.
Thomas Rhett made his national television debut on FOX & Friends earlier this week, performing his Top 15 hit “Beer With Jesus.” He also talked about writing the tune as well as much of the material on his debut album, set to be released later this year. While in New York, Thomas also opened Jason Aldean’s sold out Night Train Tour stop at Madison Square Garden.
