"This has become the main living quarters for me," says Suzanne of her sunroom. "It's the place where I do all my writing and it allows me to be 'outside' without being outside."

"I'm never in the sunroom without my dog, Cooper," says Suzanne. "It's actually become his favorite room. He will wait at the door to get into the sunroom, so he can lay in the sun."

"The construction of this room got underway in October of 2011 and it seems to be a work in progress, as it still needs to be stained. But the couch, blankets and coffee table are all my 'must-have' comfort items."

"I love a high table, especially since Cooper can't rest his head on it, which he does on the dining room table inside the house," says Suzanne. "I've lost many a meal that way. The antler candle holder is from Alaska. No animal had to die for it! They shed their antlers and the local residents are allowed to clean them up and sell them."

"As you can see, Cooper rules the house, to the dismay of my dog trainer," says Suzanne. "He sits wherever he wants! This moment wasn't planned. Cooper wanted to be in the shot. He's a ham."

"I found this vase a long time ago, and I love anything that looks rustic," says Suzanne. "I love to bring the outside inside. And I love sunflowers – my favorite flower, in case anybody wants to know!"

"I found this canoe shelf in New York City years ago," says Suzanne. "It's been with me since my very first apartment. The fishing rod and oil lantern are a friend's late grandfather's that he used in the hollers of Kentucky."

"Cooper doesn't always smell as sweet as he is," says Suzanne, "so in this photo, I'm being considerate by lighting a candle."
Note: The wood from the coffee table and the surrounding wood trim in the room came from an old tobacco barn in Kentucky, dated back to 1904. The guys had just pulled the wood and were trying to sell me something else, but I spotted this wood instead. I don’t know if you can see the ripples and waves in the wood, but they’ve been etched out over time by the wind."

"I wanted the room to have a 'rustic vacation' feel, and found this sled at an antique shop in Franklin," says Suzanne. "It originated from Wisconsin."
